Welcome to Spetzler Microneurosurgery Course 2027 ” Microneurosurgery of the Skull Base: Fundamentals, Approaches, Anatomy & Techniques ” in Phoenix – USA between 7 – 8 January 2027.

The Barrow Neurological Institute Division of Neurological Surgery announces the Spetzler Microneurosurgery Course. Dr. Michael T. Lawton will direct the course, with Dr. Robert F. Spetzler joining as a special guest.

Barrow Neurosurgery Faculty and invited guest faculty will lead this didactic-practical course. The program will focus on neurosurgical approaches, anatomy, and clinical correlations. In particular, participants will explore cerebrovascular and brain tumor management involving the anterior regions of the cranium and skull base.

Specifically, the course targets neurosurgery residents and fellows. It will cover surgical anatomy, surgical approaches and strategies, and clinical review.

Furthermore, this intensive two-day course will accommodate 60 participants. The program will combine detailed instruction with interactive discussions. In addition, didactic sessions will feature 3D and digital video microanatomy, recorded surgery, and discussions of cerebrovascular and tumor pathology.

To enhance the learning experience, faculty will integrate clinical information directly into practical anatomical dissection. Moreover, exquisitely preserved cadaver tissue with vascular injection will provide an ideal platform for extensive hands-on dissection.

Throughout these sessions, a master surgeon will lead dissections at the head station, while additional faculty mentors provide guidance. Finally, each station will feature state-of-the-art instrumentation and microscopes.
